Council unveils new Parking Charter

12.00.21pm GMT Thu 17th Jan 2008

The borough's first-ever Parking Charter has been unveiled, spelling out the Council's commitment to a high-quality parking service.

It underlines the Council's firm but fair approach on all aspects of parking. This is achieved by the "close management of the parking contractor and continual monitoring and review of all parking services," says the document. Richmond Council's Cabinet Member for Traffic, Transport and Parking, Cllr David Trigg, said: "Parking is a very high-profile service that affects all residents across the borough. And parking enforcement is one of the most vital jobs that we as a local authority are charged with as efficient parking control is essential if we are to keep traffic moving while protecting the rights of residents and businesses. The Charter guides the public through the parking maze and explains how the council seeks to deal with everyone's parking needs. Feedback is vital, so if you're dissatisfied with any aspect of the service the charter spells out how to complain. We are always keen to hear the public's views on every aspect of parking as this helps us to shape future provision. What is key is that the service is firm but fair and displays the highest standards. These principles are clearly enshrined in the document."
