Council awards £65,000 in 2007 Initiatives Fund payouts

6.43.11pm GMT Tue 6th Nov 2007

A bumper £65,000 has been awarded to local organisations so far in 2007 under a Richmond Council grants scheme that finances quality of life projects.

The awards have been made under the Initiatives Fund and are all match funded.

Council Leader, Cllr Serge Lourie, said: "We are delighted with the number of grants we have issued so far this year and the Council is looking forward to helping many other organisations in 2008 and beyond. As the grants require an element of matched funding, this ensures that the schemes are real community projects that people clearly want."
