Cash reward for flat recyclers5.43.28pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 27th Aug 2007 The excellent recycling record of residents in a block of flats in Barnes has earned them a £100 cash prize from Richmond Council. People living at Roehampton Court on Queens Ride are the latest winners of a recycling incentive scheme that rewards residents in blocks recycling the most materials per dwelling, using the correct bins provided. Residents in the 28 flats will choose how best to use the money to improve their communal areas. Cllr Martin Elengorn, Cabinet Member for Environment on Richmond Council, said: "Recycling and reducing the amount of waste we throw away has clear environmental and financial benefits. Reusing materials and sending less waste to landfill aids the fight against climate change and saves taxpayers' money. The Council is making every effort to encourage people to recycle more and improve provision for people living in flats. Congratulations to this month's winners and I hope their efforts are an inspiration to all."
