Plastic fantastic!

Plastic bottle recycling banks, introduced at seven sites across the borough in January this year, are proving phenomenally popular.

Since being installed, over half a million bottles have been collected for recycling. Cllr Martin Elengorn, Cabinet Member for Environment on Richmond Council, said

"I am delighted at how much the recycling banks are being used. They are proving hugely popular. It shows just how supportive and enthusiastic our residents are about recycling. Come November this year it will be even easier to recycle plastic bottles as they will be collected, along with cardboard, in a new kerbside collection service. In the meantime, I would urge residents to continue to use these sites and help to keep them clean and tidy. Litter is an issue at many sites and can be avoided by making sure recycling is placed inside the correct bin and not left at the side. Plastic bags can either be recycled in designated bins or taken home for reuse. We are determined to make our borough an even greener and cleaner place to live and work - and recycling is absolutely key."
