Contact Adult Social Services Direct1.39.20pm GMT Sun 11th Mar 2007 Residents wanting easy access to advice and information about services for people needing support in the community can now contact a one-stop-shop helpline and online support service. The Adult Social Services Customer Service Centre is a specialist contact centre providing information about Richmond Council Social Services, local health and voluntary services and other resources available in the community. Trained officers offer advice via a single contact to avoid passing customers from department to department. Cllr Denise Carr, Richmond Council Cabinet Member for Adult Services, Health and Housing, said: "This help-line and online service will improve the way in which we respond to our residents. Many people find it difficult to live independently and are no longer able to arrange support by themselves. The Customer Service Centre staff will listen to their concerns, and see what support the Council may be able to offer. We also work closely with the local health service and voluntary sector to ensure that our information and advice is up-to-date. Therefore, even if the Council is unable to offer services directly, we will be able to give advice and information to help callers get the support you need. I urge residents to contact us if they need help or advice for themselves, or if they are concerned about the welfare of someone else."
