North Richmond Councillor Marc Cranfield-Adams has been named as the borough's Mayor-Elect for 2007-08.

He is due to be elected at the traditional Mayor-making ceremony at York House on May 15, succeeding Cllr Bill Treble. Cllr Cranfield-Adams said: "I am delighted and honoured to be chosen as Mayor-Elect and I am determined that once again the Mayoralty will make a positive impact on local life by promoting the borough in every way possible and raising much-needed money for charity."

Cllr Cranfield-Adams was first elected to the Council for North Richmond in 2002. He is the Chairman of the Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education (SACRE). Since his re-election to Richmond Council last year he has been appointed to the committees of a number of outside bodies. They include the London Arts Board, the London Local Authority Arts Forum, London Sport, the London Youth Games, the Richmond upon Thames Arts Council, and the Community and Police Partnership.

Cllr Cranfield-Adams has chosen West Twickenham Councillor, Helen Lee-Parsons, to be Deputy Mayor. Canon Julian Reindorp, Rector of St Mary Magdalene in Richmond, will be his principal chaplain.
