Stay of execution for 465 bus

8.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 16th Aug 2005

At a meeting today involving Councillors, London Buses, the Teddington Society and GLA Member, Geoff Pope, London Buses agreed to defer the northwards termination of the 465 bus service in Kingston until Spring 2006.

This will allow time for the impact of the proposed residential development on the Jewsons' site in Sandy Lane to be considered.

Commented Cllr Martin Elengorn "On London Buses' figures the proposed 198 flats on the Jewsons' site could double the number of people joining the service south of Broad Street and north of Kingston. This strengthens the case for retaining a 30 minute service along Sandy Lane. It is possible the developers will agree to put money into the service and this needs discussion. While this is being discussed London Buses have agreed to put on ice proposed changes to the 465 and R62 services. This gives residents a further opportunity to demonstrate their support for the service by using it."
