Local Kids Perform for Shooting Star

10.39.00am GMT Wed 19th Jan 2005

On Sunday January 30th at All Hallows Church Twickenham local young musicians will perform at a fund raising concert in aid of the Shooting Star Children's Hospice. The concert is also the (third) memorial concert for Olympia Cable, the late wife of Dr Vincent Cable, MP for Twickenham who will be there together with the mayor Pat Parsons.

The concert will feature a variety of ensembles - a borough schools' string orchestra, a jazz ensemble from Hampton school, a choir from Stanley Infants school, a steel band from Hampton Community College and soloists who have already distinguished themselves in performance at the Richmond music festival.

Vincent Cable said: "A similar event last year raised useful sums for the hospice and produced a high standard of musical performances. My late wife, Olympia, who was a music teacher would, I think, be very proud of the talented young musicians now performing locally".

The concert is at 3pm and tickets can be bought on the door. It will be followed be tea in the church hall.
