Pedestrian and Cycling Safety Addressed At Last At Chalkers Corner

A long running local campaign to improve safety at Chalkers Corner has finally paid off. Susan Kramer, Liberal Democrat prospective Parliamentary candidate (Richmond Park) said she was delighted that action was now being taken.

Transport for London (TfL) will be carrying out the improvement works to theA205/A316 Chalker's Corner junction starting next Monday ( 2 August ).

Ms. Kramer said: "Both pedestrians and cycling have felt vulnerable at that corner. These long over due improvements will hopefully reduce the chance of accidents.

"The works will include:·

four new pedestrian crossings, and improvements to the existing ones, to help pedestrians cross the busy junction

new cycle crossing and cycle facilities·

realigned kerb lines throughout the junction· improved street lighting·

new signals around the junction.
