Simon Hughes walks through Richmond Town Centre10.25.00am BST (GMT +0100) Sat 5th Jun 2004 Jenny Tonge MP said: "I was delighted to see the welcome people gave to Simon Hughes on his walkabout through Richmond Town Centre on Sunday. People seem genuinely fed up with Ken Livingstone, particularly since his cynical readmission to the Labour Party. I think that Simon Hughes would make an excellent mayor, not just for inner London, but for outer London as well. I hope that local people will support him on June 10th". During the day Simon spoke to local people about his proposals for London if elected on June 10th, including a pledge for later tubes, running until 2am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, coupled with safer stations with increased use of CCTV and a more proactive approach to tackling litter and graffiti. He also made clear his commitment for four police officers and four community support officers for every neighbourhood in London.
