Freedom Pass Dry Up Leaves Older People Facing Travel Confusion

10.14.08am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 21st Apr 2004

Commenting on the Freedom Pass problem facing thousands of older people across London because their passes have expired and TfL have run out of new passes to exchange for the old ones, Liberal Democrat London Mayoral candidate, Simon Hughes, said:- "This is yet another example of poor planning and poor delivery by Transport for London in providing a convenient and easy service for Londoners."

"Leaving older London residents without their Freedom Passes causes inconvenience, confusion and uncertainty for passengers and staff alike."

"Many thousands of older people across the capital will be left with out-of-date tickets that they will only be able to use at the whim of staff who might have been informed of the problem."
