Jenny Tonge MP with PPC Susan Kramer join senior citizens at Sheen Lane Day Centre

On Friday April 16th, Susan Kramer, Lib Dem Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Richmond Park, and Jenny Tonge MP were invited to join an exercise class for senior citizens at the Sheen Lane Day Centre.

Susan Kramer PPC commented; "Although I was over twenty years younger than other people taking the exercise class, by the end of it I was certainly dropping. This is a great way for older people to keep fit, and shows just what an important role Day Centres have to play in society."

Dr Jenny Tonge MP said; "In a society increasingly effected by obesity and health problems, there is always a need to focus on what can be done to help the next generation, but this should not be done at the expense of forgetting the needs of older people. This is why day centres help fulfil such an important function, since exercise classes like the one organised at Sheen Lane, clearly demonstrate that older people can benefit just as much from regular exercise as anyone else. The Tory Council should reconsider its agenda of cut backs, closures, and rocketing day centre charges."
