Deepcut Report Vital For Those In Service Life - Hughes

9.28.00pm GMT Tue 2nd Mar 2004

Commenting on the impending Deepcut report, Liberal Democrat MP Simon Hughes, who has been working with the family of the late Private Geoff Gray said: "I understand there may be many strong recommendations about army practice and services investigation of allegations of violence, bullying or physical assault on service premises."

"It is clear to all who have been involved that the regime for preventing, investigating and prosecuting those connected with death or injury has been far from satisfactory. The families have also not been kept properly in the picture as they should have been."

"This will be a very important report not just for the Deepcut families but for all those involved in service life. I hope it answers many questions and does not pull its punches."
