Tonge Demands TV Health Ads

12.00.00am GMT Tue 20th Jan 2004

During Health Questions today, Tuesday January 20th, Dr Jenny Tonge, Liberal Democrat MP for Richmond Park, asked the Health Minister Melanie Johnson for more health messages on prime-time TV, especially adverts to warn people of sexually transmitted diseases, which will affect health and fertility in the future.

Dr Tonge said: "the whole nation is obsessed with sexual images and sexual activity. It's time the government started an information campaign on TV to make people equally obsessive about preventing sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies."
