Post Strike Should Not Stop London Working - Hughes3.31.04pm GMT Wed 29th Oct 2003 Commenting on the industrial action affecting the Royal Mail in London Liberal Democrat London mayoral candidate Simon Hughes MP, said: "Strike action like this costs Britain business money, and inconveniences millions of Londoners. The postal delivery service is part of the critical infrastructure that keeps Britain working." "Whatever the legitimate grievances of Royal Mail workers and the resistance of management to their demands, compulsory arbitration in an essential public service is much more preferable than strike action."
