TONGE SUPPORTS ANTI-WAR DEMO

Dr Jenny Tonge, Liberal Democrat MP for Richmond Park joined campaigners against the threatened war with Iraq in Richmond town centre on Saturday morning, January 25th.

Dr Tonge, who has spoken in the House of Commons against going to war with Iraq without the prior consent of the UN and Parliament, said she was pleased to give her support to the campaign.

The MP said: "I am delighted to be here, and shall be at the central London demonstration on February 15."

"But I hope we do not become so focussed on Iraq that we forget there are other potentially very dangerous places in the world."

"I am just on the way to visit Kashmir with some of my fellow MPs. Only a few months ago, the world was holding its breath lest Pakistan and India went to war over Kashmir. The people of that troubled province should not be forgotten."
