FUTURE OF ROYAL HOSPITAL ASSURED

12.00.00am GMT Mon 28th Oct 2002

Richmond Park MP Dr Jenny Tonge has received a letter from South West London & St George's NHS Trust assuring her of the future of the Royal Hospital in Richmond.

The Trust, which provides Mental Health Services for the borough, says that it wants to make maximum use of the "Royal" by relocating the Twickenham Community Mental Health Teams and the Rehab team, as well as expanding services for eating disorders.

The District Nursing and HIV teams for Richmond are also based there, as is a Day Care facility for the mentally ill run by MIND.

The MP said: "This is really good news. The "Royal" is a well-loved facility in Richmond and after so much money was spent on its renovation, it is good to know it has a secure future!"

"Dr Tonge recently held a consultation session for patients and their carers at the Royal to discuss the Mental Health bill."
