Lynde House Report delayed AGAIN

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 17th Jul 2002

(Following the inquest into the death of Maria Jackson). MP Vincent Cable has been told by the National Care Standards Commission that the release of the independent inquiry report into Lynde House has AGAIN been postponed this time until the end of August at the earliest.

Vincent Cable said: "This is a preposterous and intolerable situation. This is the fifth postponement I am aware off, all at the insistence of Westminster Health Care and its lawyers. The report was commissioned by the NHS, paid for by taxpayers money and it is part of the duty of the NHS to regulate and supervise the care home sector. Yet a private company is being allowed to dictate how and when the report is released. It all adds to the growing suspicion that there is something to hide".
